MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) will honor Dr. Mehmet C. Oz, host of the new “The Dr. Oz Show” premiering on CBS 3 on September 14, 2009, at a benefit luncheon on October 2, 2009 from noon to 2:00 PM. Dr. Oz will receive MANNA’s special The Power of Nutrition Award, in recognition of his longtime dedication to educating people and promoting healthy living through better nutrition. The luncheon will be held at The Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street, and will also feature remarks by Richard Keaveney, CEO of MANNA. Guests will enjoy a delicious, heart-healthy menu prepared by Loews’ renowned chefs. Tickets to the luncheon are available for $125 per person. The media sponsor is CBS 3, with additional support from The Loews Philadelphia Hotel. "CBS 3 has been a proud supporter of MANNA for numerous years. About Dr. Oz
Dr. Mehmet C. Oz, host of “The Dr. Oz Show” premiering on CBS 3 on September 14, 2009 at 9:00 AM, is Vice-Chair and Professor of Surgery at Columbia University. He directs the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital. His research interests include heart replacement surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, complementary medicine and health care policy. He has authored more than 400 original publications, book chapters, and medical books and has received several patents. He performs 250 heart operations annually. Dr. Oz was born in Cleveland, Ohio and received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University (1982) and obtained a joint MD and MBA (1986) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Wharton Business School.
